About Us
Raskelf Group is a leading UK supplier of mattresses and sleep products, serving a diverse range of market sectors. We aim to provide the most comfortable night’s sleep to suit all ages and all environments, spanning from cots to caravans and everything in between
Our Story
Raskelf’s journey began in 2003 when founders, Alan and Elizabeth Colleran, recognised the untapped potential of introducing memory foam into the leisure industry. Driven by the need to innovate, they developed the patented Duvalay Memory Foam Sleeping Bag in 2009, capturing the attention of the nation through a successful appearance on the BBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2011 and securing investment from Dragon, Hilary Devey.
This sparked a period of rapid growth, with the business winning major contracts and building relationships with some of the most renowned UK retailers. Raskelf then went on to win the top prize from the UK’s National Bed Federation (NBF) in 2017-2018 being named ‘Bed Manufacturer of the Year’. The accolades continued in 2018-2019, with special NBF awards recognition and winning the coveted ‘Manufacturing Innovation Award’ in 2019.
The company boasts a global presence, actively exporting our products and securing distribution agreements worldwide. Our handcrafted mattresses are sold in locations as far a field as Korea and China, and the memory foam sleeping bag is distributed across Europe and America.
In a strategic move that exemplified our commitment to expansion and diversification, Raskelf Group made a significant asset acquisition in 2023 by securing Nursery Connections, the UK’s foremost baby mattress manufacturer. This bold step not only reinforced the company’s position, but also substantially broadened the spectrum of sleep products offered by Raskelf Group.
Sustainability
With the mission to be an industry leader in green manufacturing and product sustainability, we are proud members of the National Bed Federations ‘pledge for our planet’ initiative, aiming to offset our carbon footprint and implement eco-design principles to safeguard the environment for future generations of sleepers.
Year after year, we prevent over 180,000 plastic bottles from entering landfill or polluting our seas by incorporating recycled post-consumer polymers into our products. Furthermore, the commitment extends to a mattress recycling program offered to our contract customers. This program ensures that end-of-life products are meticulously disassembled, with sub-parts reclaimed and repurposed to be used responsibly within the circular economy.
